Arturo Machuca is Deputy Director of Ellington Airport (EFD) and Houston Spaceport for the Houston Airport System (HAS). He has over 30 years of experience in aerospace and aviation, including commercial airlines, corporate aviation, airport operations and commercial spaceports. Since joining HAS in 2009, Machuca has held roles in operations, planning, strategy, economic development and business relations across all three airports.

At Houston Spaceport, Machuca oversees the growth of a tenant base engaged in planetary science, low-Earth orbit and lunar activities. The spaceport has become a driver of regional economic activity, generating investment and jobs in Houston’s aerospace sector. In 2022, Texas Governor Greg Abbott appointed Machuca to the Texas Aerospace and Aviation Advisory Committee, which supports efforts to expand the state’s aerospace and aviation industries.

Machuca earned a Bachelor of Arts in hotels and tourism administration from Universidad Regiomontana.
